DINK Travel & Leisure - Catalina Island

Santa Catalina Island is a fantasic jewel in the Pacific just a few miles off the Coast of Long Beach.  Technically speaking, Catalina is in Los Angeles County.  In reality is is a world apart. 

 

Catalina is a prime example of why California Real Estate is so pricey.  For a small fee you can catch a ferry from Newport Beach or Long Beach and ride over to Catalina.  Completey different than any of the areas on the mainland side, the little town of Avalon Bay has a charm and appeal that is more like the 1950's in Los Angeles. 

 

After getting off the ferry you can quickly spot the first timers.  They stand puzzled looking for a car rental, cab or some form of transportation.  Regular guests will have roller bags and just start the 1/2 mile trek to the main shopping area. 

 

There are several really cool shops.  Being a parrot head of sorts the DINK Travelers spent some big bank at the Tiki store called Latitude 33.  You won't miss it.

 

If you are just there on a day trip we suggest renting a golf cart for the high speed tour or taking a jeep tour of the island.

Get a certificate for landing at the airport in the sky if you fly a small airplane in. It is pretty cool.
